Boston-based Americana singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Luke Curran is rapidly emerging as one of New England’s most captivating new voices, blending the narrative grit of Jason Isbell, the emotional honesty of Tyler Childers, and the timeless storytelling of John Prine with a sound shaped by the heartland of Northern Michigan, the sunlit traditions of Florida’s Gulf Coast, and Boston’s vibrant folk revival. Curran’s debut EP, Hymns (April 2025), is already drawing attention for its cinematic songwriting, heartfelt musicianship and production quality.
Raised on campfire harmonies and family songbooks, Curran is a classically trained pianist who refined his craft at the Frost School of Music before finding his true voice in Boston’s thriving roots scene as a story-telling troubadour. His songs delve into themes of faith, identity, working-class struggle, and hard-won love-stories drawn from personal experience and delivered with warmth, wit, and authenticity. Whether performing solo or with his band, Curran’s live shows have earned praise for their emotional resonance and dynamic musicianship.
Hymns is a homecoming: a collection of heartfelt ballads and rollicking bluegrass arrangements, featuring standout collaborators from Boston’s vibrant music community, including Connor Quigley (Fallout Shelter), Hazel Royer (Big Richard), Moriah Ozberkman and Zac Stein.
